Subdomain and cross-domain tracking

Subdomains

Set data-domain to your root domain on every subdomain (e.g. example.com on both www.example.com and app.example.com). The tracker then writes its cookies on .example.com, so a visitor keeps the same id when moving from your marketing site to your app — and a payment made in the app is attributed to the channel that brought them to the marketing site.

<!-- on www.example.com AND app.example.com -->
<script
  defer
  data-website-id="YOUR_WEBSITE_ID"
  data-domain="example.com"
  src="https://dataeasy.app/js/script.js"
></script>

Events from any subdomain of your website domain are accepted automatically. Use the Path → Hostname breakdown to compare them.

Other domains

To track a different root domain with the same website (e.g. example.io and example.com), add it in Website settings → General → Additional domains, or enable Allow all domains. Otherwise events coming from unknown domains are rejected.

Cookies can't be shared between different root domains, so a visitor going from example.io to example.com is counted as two visitors. Keep checkout on the same root domain (or a subdomain) as your marketing pages for accurate revenue attribution.
